First, the dentist will visually inspect the oral cavity of the patient. For this, the patient must take off removable dental appliances. The dentist will check for bumps, patches, and other abnormalities. After that the area around the jaw and under the chin will be checked to diagnose the onset of a problem. It is a small test and reassures the patient that they are healthy.
